Leader of the Pack
Doggone was established by Luke Cutler in 2005

Luke grew up in a zoo like menagerie of a home where the human family lives fitted around the many and various pets which he and his brother adopted by an assortment of means. Luke’s mother met each of these foundlings with a begrudging good humour and affection which only stopped with the 8 foot python (Can we keep him mum? Can we keep him mum? Please mum please …NO! came the answer). From childhood animal companions have been a part of Luke’s daily life.

Luke worked in Arts management for most of his professional life in Adelaide and Melbourne moving to Sydney in 2002 for romantic reasons. Dissatisfied with career options in the Emerald city, Luke decided to combine his lifelong fascination of all animals, his hobby of bush walking in the great outdoors, a desire to become fitter and healthier, along with the need to make a living by opening Doggone in 2005. He hasn’t looked back.

9 years later, 5 day a week, 8 hours a day spent with all sorts of dogs has given Luke an enviable understanding of dog behaviour, building his relationship with the Doggone Pack, catering to the needs of individual dogs and working with the owners to resolve any problems with their pets (often succeeding where the professional trainer has failed). Luke enjoys this personal relationship with each dog and their owner, be it a simple walking service or more complex needs.

“One of the great things about dogs is that they wake up each day happy and enthusiastic. It is their default setting.” says Luke “It doesn’t take much to keep your dog happy. Shelter, food and affection are essential along with a stimulating activity each day and the companionship of other dogs. Dogs are gregarious creatures just like people. A one hour walk every day meeting other dogs can make all the difference between a bored, sad or even destructive dog and the perfect happy companion pet.”

“It is great for a busy owner to come home at the end of a long day, look into those unconditional loving eyes knowing their best friend has had a great day out and just wants to spend some quality time with you, be it reading a book, watching telly or running a marathon.”
